Peter Pelkofer was a senior council with the California State Lands Commission. He has since retired from the California State Lands Commission, but continues to consult with them and other states and individuals on Maritime Cultural Preservation Law.

A 1963 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School, he specializes in maritime law and its application to shipwrecks. Mr. Pelkofer was counsel for California on the Brother Jonathan case.
